Nintendo's Wii U TV service called Nintendo TVii, which brings Wii U owners the functionality to browse internet channels via the Gamepad about TV Shows, movies and sports has just been cancelled in Europe.

Nintendo of Europe has released a statement regarding the cancellation, stating that, "Due to the extremely complex nature of localising multiple television services across a diverse range of countries with varied licensing systems, regrettably we have taken the decision not to launch the Nintendo TVii service within the European region.

Although on this occasion we did not anticipate such challenges, we will always strive to develop a range of entertaining experiences for all our users to enjoy."

Europeans still get the Nintendo Anime Channel, which is a video-on-demand service which offers Nintendo 3DS owners the ability to watch such animes like Pokémon, and Inazuma Eleven just to name a couple. All this is accessible via a download on the Nintendo eShop.
