Ys Net and Yu Suziki are confident on the development of Shenmue III, with the team having a release window planned for Holiday 2017. However, the developers warn that this target is "within reach" but it may change as the project evolves.
"A rigorous budget and schedule has been worked out with our production team and we believe our target of 2017 holiday season is within reach," said Ys Net via Kickstarter update. "That said, our goal is to make the best game possible (and one that the fans want!) so please understand the schedule may change as the project evolves. Frequent updates will be posted on the Update page."
Ys Net also teased the possibility of other platform versions being added as rewards, which hints at the possibility of Shenmue III also releasing on Xbox One. "Currently we are planning development only for PC (Windows) and PS4. Other platforms have not been decided yet. If other platform versions were added as rewards, an announcement would be made on the update page," said the developer.
With 25 days left, the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter has already raised over $3.5 million.
