SEGA's highly anticipated western release of Yakuza 5 is close to release on western shores, and in anticipation of the release the publisher has released some new screenshots showcasing the combat mechanics in the game.
One of the most important things about being a Yakuza is knowing how to beat someone's face into a pulp. And not just your average fighting --- that's referring to brutal, bloody, no holds-barred street fighting. Series veterans Kiryu and Saejima didn't get their street cred from just anything --- they got it from beating anyone who stood on their way.
In Yakuza 5, each protagonist possesses unique fighting styles, skills, and upgradeable special abilities that give them an upper hand when challenged to fisticuffs (or dance battles in Haruka's case). And there's also weapons, ranging from pliers, wooden swords, street signs, and even bicycles if you want to get creative enough.
While there still isn't a finalized release date outside of later this year, SEGA has announced that fans can pre-order the game digitally through the PlayStation Store at a 15% discount. In addition, they'll also receive a Yakuza 5 "Fulfiller of Dreams" static theme to use on their PS3.
