After being leaked earlier today by Xbox.com, Warner Bros. has officially announced Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The game will be released on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U, 3DS and PS Vita.

"The Force is strong with this one... The No. 1 LEGO videogame franchise triumphantly returns with a fun-filled, humorous journey based on the blockbuster Star Wars film. Play as Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, and the rest of your favourite characters from the movie!", says the game's description on Xbox.com.

"In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, players relive the epic action from the blockbuster film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, retold through the clever and witty LEGO lens. The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens also introduces Multi-Builds and Blaster Battles to the LEGO videogame universe. With Multi-Builds, use available LEGO bricks to open up new paths, then break them apart and re-build them again to open up another! And another! During Blaster Battles, use your surroundings as cover to stand against the First Order."

The PS4 and PS3 versions of the game will offer players exclusive access to DLC content. According to Sony and Warner Bros, this DLC content will tell "new stories and adventures connecting the Star Wars narrative".

"One of the most amazing parts of all of this is being able to work with Lucasfilm to create new game content with the characters and locations from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, told in a way that only LEGO Star Wars can," said Jamie Eden, TT Games' Game Director.

"Through a strong collaboration with Lucasfilm, we've been able to create new stories and adventures connecting the Star Wars narrative, both before and tying into the movie. As such huge fans of the franchise, it's a tremendous honour to have that privilege.

"As part of this, we're pleased to share that PS4 and PS3 players will have access to exclusive downloadable content in the form of a Droid Character Pack and Phantom Limb Level Pack. We can't go into too much detail right now, but we can't wait for people to experience the content from the film, as well as new stories in Star Wars: The Force Awakens!"

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens releases on the 28th of June.
