Sony is currently developing a more powerful PS4 with support for 4K resolution, Kotaku reports.
This new version of the PS4, with some people calling it PlayStation 4.5, includes an upgraded GPU, something that will allow the console to both support high-end 4K resolution for games and add more processing power that can enhance the games supported by PlayStation VR. In addition to 4k resolution, this new GPU would also give developers the opportunity to push more effects and other graphical tweaks to make their games look better.
The fact is that consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) are falling behind PC very quickly, with many already questioning how long this console generation will last. Sony doesn't seem to be alone in this idea, as there have also been rumours about an upgraded Xbox One for a while now, with Xbox head Phil Spencer even hinting that the company has been exploring that possibility.
When asked about Kotaku's claim, Sony told the site it "can't comment on rumours or speculation". Do you believe we will see a new version of the console soon? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
