Insomniac and Sony have released a 20-minute gameplay video of Ratchet & Clank. PlayStation Underground is joined by Insomniac's James Stevenson, with the duo discussing the game's story, gameplay changes and additions in comparision to the original game, and how this is all connected to the movie.
Ratchet & Clank is mix between remake and a reboot, a completely new game, but with quite a few elements based on the original. It will include new and updated gameplay segments, all-new Clank gameplay, boss fights, flight sequences, and more. Players can also expect one of the largest arsenal in the series, with the game featuring weapons from the original Ratchet & Clank, fan-favourites from the Ratchet & Clank Future series, and completely new weapons.
Although the game and the movie are both based on origin story of Ratchet & Clank battling Chairman Drek, there will be a few differences between the two. While the film focuses more on the story and character development, the game will be told from Captain Copernicus L. Qwark's egocentric perspective. Due to this, the events of the game won't be exactly set up like the movie, allowing players to experience the story in a different way.
Ratchet & Clank releases on PS4 on the 12th of April in North America and on the 20th of April in Europe. It will be priced at $39.99/€34.99/£29.99.
