PS4 system software 3.50 is out tomorrow, and Sony has detailed the list of new features that will be included in the update.

Starting with one of the most requested features, players can now appear offline. Sony has added a new option called Online Status, which allow players to appear as Online or offline. This addition is perfect for you when you want to fully concentrate on your game or watch a movie without interruption.

The PS3 would notify you when when your friends came online, and with this update, the PS4 will be able to do the same. Unlike the PS3, this feature allows you to turn on the notifications only for a few friends instead of all your friend list. To receive notifications, access your Friends profile, press Options, and select 'Notify When Online.'

The ability to schedule gameplay sessions with your friends has been added to the Events tab. Once you decide the day, time, and game, all you have to do is send an invitation to individual friends or a Group. When your event starts, users who registered will automatically be added to a Party so you can start playing right away. In addition, members of a Party are now able to see what each person is playing.

In this update, the PS4's Remote Play capabilities are expanded to work with PC and Mac, giving players more freedom and flexibility to play. This feature will be compatible with Windows 8.1, Windows 10 or later, OS X 10.10 and OS X 10.11. Depending on your Internet bandwidth, you will be able to select from the following resolution and frame rate options:

  • Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p
  • Default resolution "“ 540p
  • Frame rate : Standard (30fps), High (60fps)
  • Default frame rate "“ Standard (30fps)

Younger players (aged 13 "“ 17 years) can now create their own account and start playing in offline mode until parents approve the account and complete the parental control set up at their leisure. Other additions of this update include the option to broadcast to Dailymotion, social improvements, the ability to check the status of the PlayStation Network Services, and a PlayStation Plus Hub.
