Bethesda has announced that Dishonored 2 will release worldwide on the 11th of November. The game was previously set to release sometime this Spring.
Dishonored 2 takes place 15 years after the events of the previous game. Corvo, the protagonist of Dishonored, was concerned that at some point, people would attempt to assassinate Emily. As such, he spent said 15 years training her how to be a magical assassin like him whenever she wasn't too busy being Empress.
Players can play as Corvo or Emily. Each character will have its own unique set of supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets. The game starts out with you playing as Emily during a coup d'etat and having to escape, but later on you will be able to choose which character you will play as.
In terms of gameplay, Dishonored 2 remains faithfull to its prequel, but with a few additions and improvements to make the gameplay even better. The enemy AI is a lot smarter this time and can also do things like vault around and scale objects to chase you. The game is also a lot more vertical and you can perform non-lethal aerial takedowns.
Emily has a new set of powers, including Far Reach, Domino, Mesmerize and Shadow Walk. Far Reach is this giant hand grappling hook thing that pulls you around and can be used as a weapon by swinging around environment objects. Mesmerize is an ability that stuns multiple guards temporarily, while the Shadow Walk ability which lets her slink into shadows and squeeze into tight places. Finally, there's Domino, an ability that links up to four enemies and whatever happens to one enemy, happens to the rest.
As for Corvo, his powers remain the same as the previous game, but they are upgraded and expanded. For example, Corvo's Bend Time ability can now also fast forward time, and his possession ability can now be chained between creatures.
In addition, despite the game giving you a chance to play as either character, Dishonored 2 doesn't feature a co-op component. The first gameplay footage will be shown during Bethesda press conference at E3.
"Reprise your role as a supernatural assassin in Dishonored 2 "“ the next chapter in the award-winning Dishonored saga by Arkane Studios," says Bethesda.
"Play your way in a world where mysticism and industry collide. Will you choose to play as Empress Emily Kaldwin or the royal protector, Corvo Attano? Will you make your way through the game unseen, make full use of its brutal combat system, or use a blend of both? How will you combine your character's unique set of powers, weapons and gadgets to eliminate your enemies? The story responds to your choices, leading to intriguing outcomes, as you play through each of the game's hand-crafted missions."
Dishonored 2 will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
