During Taipei Game Show, which took place during the weekend, Square Enix showed off new gameplay of the upcoming Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.
Final Fantasy Brand Manager Shinji Hashimoto took the stage to introduce the game, while Producer Hiroaki Kato played the game for the audience. In the videos below, we get to see quite a bit of exploration across several locations, combat, and a few cutscenes. Hashimoto and Kato also showcased the game's Turbo mode, a gameplay feature that increases the speed of battle and was exclusive to the International version of Final Fantasy XII.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will have a revamped License Board, which was also featured in the International version of Final Fantasy XII, allowing players to assign a character to one of twelve jobs, with each of the twelve jobs in the Zodiac System having a different Licence Board. This means that different boards will give characters access to different abilities, stats boosts and equipment.
Remastered for PS4, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will feature some visual improvements, including high-resolution upgrades for backgrounds, character models, all 2D parts including fonts, and movie scenes.
As for sound improvements and other additions, the game will include high-quality voice support, English and Japanese voices, a newly re-recorded soundtrack, support for 7.1 surround sound, faster load times, auto-save funcionality and trophy support. Players can switch between the original and newly remastered soundtrack.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age releases in 2017 exclusively on PS4.
