Sony's financial results for the fiscal year 2016 reveals that the corporation has now shipped over 60 million PS4 consoles.
During the fiscal year 2016 (April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017), Sony shipped 20 million PS4 units, with 2.9 million of these coming in the final quarter. These sales numbers meet with Sony's expectations to sell 60 million units by March this year. The fiscal year 2016 also represents an improvement over the previous fiscal year, when PS4 shipped 17.7 million units.
In addition, Sony is forecasting PS4 shipments to amount to 18 million units for the current fiscal year. If Sony's predictions are correct, this would bring the console to 78 million units shipped worldwide, and closer to the PS3's 80 million units.
