During the weekend, Electronic Arts and DICE finally revealed the first trailer and screenshots of the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II. Following the game's reveal, publisher Electronic Arts revealed new details about the game and announced the game's Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition.
Unlike the previous game, Star Wars Battlefront II will feature a single player campaign, one which spans the 30 year gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here's quick description of the game's campaign.
Star Wars Battlefront II introduces a new single-player Star Wars story. You play the role of Commander Iden Versio, leader of the Galactic Empire’s elite special forces unit, Inferno Squad. After witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star, Iden’s team embarks on an extraordinary odyssey of revenge, betrayal, and redemption spanning the 30 year gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Along the way, she and her companions encounter a cast of Star Wars’ greatest characters. You’ll take control of many of these beloved heroes in an adventure ranging across a series of fantastic planets, including awe-inspiring settings you’ve never seen before.
As for multiplayer, the game will allow players to play as Star Wars' most feared villains and cherished heroes from all three eras, including Kylo Ren, Rey, Darth Maul, Yoda, and many more. Each character will feature unique, upgradable abilities to ensure classic characters bring their distinct powers and personality to the battle.
Star Wars Battlefront II will support massive multiplayer fights up to 40 players in authentic locations across all eras. With a deep class-based online gameplay, players will be able tp pilot a wide variety of land and air vehicles, and control iconic characters with distinct abilities that can turn the tide of battle. In addition, the game will also feature spectacular space battle scenarios, giving players the opportunity to pilot renown craft like the Millennium Falcon or Luke Skywalker’s X-wing in exciting dogfights with up to 24 players.
Electronic Arts also confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront II will include offline splitscreen co-op. Unfortunatelly, offline splitscreen co-op is exclusive to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, meaning that the PC version won't suport this feature.
Electronic Arts also announced the game's Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition, pre-order bonuses, and more. Starting with the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition, this edition will come with the following content:
- Upgraded versions of all 4 trooper classes (Officer, Assault, Heavy, and Specialist)
- 4 epic ability upgrades—one for each trooper class
- Instant weapon unlocks and weapon modifications for each trooper class
In addition, pre-ordering the Deluxed edition gives players early access on the 14th of November, three days before the game's release. Pre-ordering either the standard edition or the Deluxe edition will also provide the following content:
- Exclusive Kylo Ren- and Rey-themed looks, inspired by Star Wars : The Last Jedi
- Epic ability modifiers for Kylo Ren and Rey
- An epic ability modifier for the Millennium Falcon
EA and Origin Access members will get the chance to try out the game via early access on the 9th of November.
