2K Details Spec Ops: The Line

After Saturday's debut trailer of Spec Ops: The Line at Spike TV's 2009 Video Game Awards, 2K games has today announced details, including a rough release date, of the action-shooter game. Spec Ops: The Line follows lead character U.S. Army Captain Martin Walker as he and his squad hunt for a group of U.S. Soldiers left in the city of Dubai after cataclysmic sandstorms struck the city. The stranded group of soldiers had stayed behind to protect civilians during the disaster.

Yager is the German developer working on Spec ops: The Line in collaboration with 2K Games as the publisher. Timo Ullman, Managing Director of Yager, expressed his excitement about the project,

The production of Spec Ops: The Line has been a tremendous experience for Yager. Our close collaboration with 2K Games over the course of this production has allowed us to achieve our goal of giving players a unique and exciting gaming experience in Spec Ops: The Line. Yager's goal is to always push the boundaries of what is possible and exceed players' expectations in every production.

According to 2K games, Spec Ops is a "provocative and gripping third-person modern military shooter that challenges players' morality by putting them in the middle of unspeakable situations where unimaginable choices affecting human life must be made."

Spec Ops: The Line is planned for a vague release during Take-Two's 2011 fiscal year which takes place anywhere between November 1st, 2010 to October 31st, 2011, and will be appearing on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
