Ubisoft: Reacting To Competition Isn't A Good Idea

Ubisoft: Reacting To Competition Isn't A Good Idea Ubisoft has stated that despite Red Dead Redemption's success in the wild west era, they never thought about changing their minds about putting Call of Juarez: The Cartel in a modern setting.

When speaking to us recently, Samuel Jacques, a producer from Ubisoft who's overseeing development said "I don't think it's a good idea to react to competition and say 'they're doing this, we should do that'. It's difficult to do a good game like that."

Despite Call of Juarez: The Cartel being set in the modern era, Techland has been keen to point out that the wild west still lives on in the modern setting and they believe that it was the only real route for the franchise.

"The strongest idea we had [when thinking about Call of Juarez 3] was playing as a cop against a gangster, so we felt the modern setting was where we had to go," added Jacques.

The game is due for release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC this Summer.
