Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 2 Expectations 'Better, Bigger'
Pondering this, GamingUnion.net spoke with Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind Assassin's Creed, at this week's GameOn: Finance conference. We asked Mallat what his expectations are for Assassin's Creed 2 compared to the original's sales and reception, and Mallat told us,
Better, bigger, and definitely opening a new realm in terms of how Assassin's Creed's gameplay can be seen. I think that Assassin's Creed 2 will definitely show the work of a team that listened a lot to you guys. In how could we make this experience better, and the results are, in my opinion, really, really solid, astonishing [sic].
Mallat continued, speaking as to why he feels Assassin's Creed 2 will be bigger than the original,
Assassin's Creed 1 was, and still is, the fastest selling new IP, but it definitely had some areas where we could improve the experience. In the way we don't repetitively do the same kind of mission. If there's one thing we worked on, it's definitely killing the repetitiveness feeling, making sure that we're adding so much variety. Not just variety for the sake of variety, it is embedded into the game system, so that in a way each of your actions, interacting with the crowd or buying items or equipping yourself, has actual value towards your main goal [sic].
Assassin's Creed 2 is set to release on November 17th in North America and November 20th in Europe, and anticipation among gamers couldn't be any higher than it is. GamingUnion.net also asked Mallat about future work with Kojima Productions, we'll have for that report tomorrow.comments powered by Disqus
