Naughty Dog Launches Damning Verdict, Wants Other Devs To Wake Up
PS3 0 CommentsNaughty Dog's creative director has launched a scathing attack on the rest of the video game industry and hopes to "raise the bar" with the studio's next project, The Last of Us.
When speaking to Eurogamer, Neil Druckmann said that developers need to realise "Okay, I really need to learn the craft of storytelling, I really need to involve my actors in this in order to get realistic performances and realistic actors. That's what we want to do."
Druckmann also reserved criticism for reviewers becoming too complacent and accepting average quality good as much better. "We try so hard at Naughty Dog to push things. And then games come out that are fun and exciting and get visceral things right, but to read in reviews that they have an amazing story is disheartening to us because we work so hard at it.
"As critics we need to raise the bar, otherwise no-one's going to change," he continued.
The Last of Us has been given no release date yet, but we know it will focus on a mutation within humanity that threatens to wipe our the entire race. Check out the trailer from the Spike VGAs.
