Report: Asus Developing Kinect-Ready Laptops
X360 0 CommentsAsus are developing a line of laptops which will have Microsoft's Kinect peripheral built-in, according to a report published by technology website, The Daily.
Apparently the site were given the chance to view some prototypes, which were running Windows 8 and featured an array of Kinect sensors along the top of the laptop - where a web camera would usually be positioned. The Kinect LEDS will then appear at the bottom of the screen.
The Daily claims to have been in contact with Microsoft about the development of the devices, with Microsoft confirming that they are officially sanctioned. With Kinect for Windows recently released, it's believed that Asus are attempting to capitalise and get in early, so they will be ready and waiting for the applications which are inevitably developed.
It's certainly an interesting move, and it could be the first step towards gesture controlled PCs, if we ignore the gaming functionality of course. With Kinect built-in, people would no longer have to worry about having an oddly place peripheral.
