Nvidia Unimpressed By PS4 Specs, Compares To Low-End PC
PS4 PC 0 CommentsNvidia has gone on record as saying that they believe the PS4's specs are outdated, even though it isn't due to release until the end of 2013.
When speaking to TechRadar, Tony Tamasi, the Senior Vice President at Nvidia said "Compared to gaming PCs, the PS4 specs are in the neighborhood of a low-end CPU, and a low-to-mid-range GPU side."
He continued by saying "If the PS4 ships in December as Sony indicated, it will only offer about half the performance of a GTX680 GPU (based on GFLOPS and texture), which launched in March 2012, more than a year and a half ago."
The PS4 will feature a graphics card from Nvidia's main competitor, Radeon, and Tamasi also talked about why Nvidia chose not to get involved with the development of the PS4.
"I'm sure there was a negotiation that went on and we came to the conclusion that we didn't want to do the business at the price those guys were willing to pay."
While Nvidia are primarily involved with providing hardware for PCs, they recently entered the handheld console market with Project Shield.
