Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Free-To-Play For This Weekend On Steam It's been announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's multiplayer component will be free-to-play on the Steam platform this weekend.

People who haven't purchased the game will be able to download Black Ops 2's multiplayer for free from now until Sunday the 12th of May at 1pm GMT. Activision are hoping that this will help to boost sales, as people who take part in this promotion will get a 33 percent reduction in price for both the normal and Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.

With the discount in place, it means that Black Ops 2 will be available on Steam for £26.79 for the standard edition and £36.84 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. The move on Skype also coincides with a Double XP weekend, whereby players on every platform (PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U) can earn additional experience points.

Elsewhere with Call of Duty, Activision recently announced the next step in the franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts. This will take place in an all-new environment, with a new engine that is being developed by Infinity Ward. It's due for a gameplay reveal during Microsoft's unveiling of their new console, which takes place on the 21st of May.

Ghosts will be releasing on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. However, it won't be releasing on Nintendo's Wii U platform. Instead, Activision are choosing to wait and publish the game on the PS4 and next-generation Xbox when they're released.
