Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Will See Caius Ballad Return
PS3 X360 0 CommentsSquare Enix has revealed that Caius Ballad, the main antagonist from Final Fantasy XIII-2, will be returning in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
The news came from an interview that was conducted during Japan Expo 2013, involving PlayStation France and Motomu Toriywama, the director of Lightning Returns.
He was asked "We've already seen some of the the main characters from the two previous games, are they going to play an important role in Lightning Returns? Will they become allies or opponents of Lightning?"
As you can see, Toriyama wasn't directly asked about Caius in the question. Instead, the interviewer asked more about returning characters and their roles in Lightning Returns. However, Toriyama took this opportunity to announce that Caius Ballad would indeed be appearing in Lightning Returns.
"Yes, certain enemies will reappear," said Toriyama. "One of these will be Caius, because at the end of XIII-2 there is an uncertainty that hovers around his destiny and whether he survives or not. This mystery will be solved in Lightning Returns."
Since his appearance in Final Fantasy XIII-2, Caius Ballad has gone on to become something of a fan favourite. This was helped immensely by his theme tune, Caius' Theme, which was composed by Naoshi Mizuta. If Caius is to make a full return in Lighting Returns, it could make for a rather bumper cast, with Oerba Yun Fang also confirmed to re-appear. Square Enix has also revealed a return for Snow Villiers, Hope Esteim, Noel Kreiss and... Chocolina.
To pre-order Lightning Returns, you can go here for the UK and here for the US.
For a limited time only, anyone who pre-orders the game will receive a Cloud Strife outfit for Lightning, which will see her wearing Cloud's iconic clothes, but also grants the ability to use his Buster Sword.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is due to release on the 11th of February, 2014 in North America and the 14th of February, 2014 in Europe. It'll be releasing on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
