That being said, the "hardcore", enthusiast crowd has always had a deep appreciation and sense of loyalty toward the select group of studios that continually produce quality. Thankfully, that trend is slowly beginning to penetrate mainstream gaming. With that in mind, we decided to compile a list of the top development studios at the present moment - studios that generate a great deal of anticipation behind their endeavors, and are an influential force in the industry. 0  South Koreans Getting StarCraft II Free Wed, Jun 30th, 2010, 11:34 am (EST) BY JAMIE COURTS In a move to make Blizzard Entertainment an unstoppable force in South Korea, Blizzard has announced that any World of WarCraft players with an active subscription will be able to play StarCraft II free of charge. The only catch to the free play of StarCraft II is that the game is only playable as long as the World of WarCraft account is active. This is quite the bold move for Blizzard considering the largest fan base for StarCraft comes from South Korea. In one sense it is a lot less copes that will be sold to the Korean public, but at the same time, it spurs a massive boost to subscriptions for World of WarCraft, which already has around 12 million active subscriptions. 2  Starcraft II Release Date Finally Confirmed Tue, May 4th, 2010, 12:40 am (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS It has been a long 12 years since the original Starcraft was released in 1998, but fans need not fear any longer as Blizzard has confirmed the highly anticipated sequel, Starcraft Ii: Wings of Liberty, will launch on July 27th.
