New Modern Warfare 2 Glitch Plaguing Xbox 360 Version

Infinity Ward was quick to fix some of the major bugs that had been plaguing the multiplayer portion of Modern Warfare 2. Using a combination of unusual button sequences, weapon swaps, and sometimes careful jumping players have been able to exploit the game's programming to cheat. Two of the more prominent bugs (the Javelin and Care Package glitch) were fixed in the most recent online update, as well as many of the bugs allowing players to move inside walls. However some of the exploits remain in the game, and have seen increased use with the removal of other exploits.

Known as the Public "Private Match" Hack, the exploit cleverly allows players to create their own private match, of which they can gain double experience from. Private matches can normally be created for more intimate play against friends or rival clans, but are generally created by invite only. The most disruptive part of this particular glitch is the fact that it takes players out of the games they'd selected, and instead drops them into a game not of their choice. Additionally, as the bug heavily involves the use of friends lists and the Xbox Live interface it can only be done on the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2. More »

Modern Warfare 2 Javelin Glitch Fixed on Xbox 360

Microsoft's Major Nelson earlier reported that the patch for Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 to fix a few prominent glitches was good to go, and indeed it has now been released.

The 1.06 upgrade for Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 fixes the ever annoying Javelin glitch, as well as the unlimited care packages glitch. Microsoft had been banning Xbox Live accounts caught using the glitch, no word if those will remain banned, but for now the bannings will cease. More »

Modern Warfare 2 DLC Could Hit $100M In Sale

If the sales numbers of Modern Warfare 2 weren't high enough, lest we forget the impending downloadable content (DLC) to be bought for the title. According to Broadpoint AmTech analyst, Ben Schachter, sales of DLC map packs and other DLC could potentially account for over $100 millions in revenue. As with the last two CoD titles, the game itself should maintain its $60 launch price until the next iteration (due in large part to the value of its online gameplay), but ATVI will also benefit significantly from the high-margin DLC potential enabled by the packaged product's success. We estimate that ATVI will generate at least $100mil-$140mil in gross revenue from Call of Duty DLC in 2010.

Schachter and his team's math is based on sales DLC map packs Activision released for last year's Call of Duty: World at War. World at War had three DLC map pack, and with that much revenue in the balance for Activision, it's almost a certainty that we'll see three DLC map packs for Modern Warfare 2.
