F1 2009 ReviewTue, Dec 1st, 2009, 1:42 pm (EST) BY DARRYLFormula 1 is one of the hottest properties in sports at the moment, especially in the United Kingdom, with the last two seasons resulting in British champions. However, there hasn't been a Formula 1 game for a few years, as it last appeared exclusively on the PlayStation 3 and was developed by SCE Studio Liverpool. Dragonology ReviewSun, Nov 29th, 2009, 9:10 pm (EST) BY DARRYLIn 1895 Dr. Earnest Drake published one hundred copies of a book covering the lifestyles, habitats and details of dragons of all shapes and sizes. However, it would not be until 2003 that his work was revealed to the world by Candlewick Press' Ology series. A fictional twist from an otherwise factual series, Dragonology has since spawned several novels, handbooks, games, and toys all set to guide young adventurers who wish to know more about dragons. The game represents the Ology series' first step into the gaming industry (with Wizardology and Pirateology close behind), but how does it fare against the popular children's book series? More » |

F1 2009 Hands OnPosted on 2009/11/01 BY DARRYLIt's been quite a while since gamers had a chance to get their teeth into an up to date Formula One title, with the last licenced game, Formula One Championship Edition, appearing on the PlayStation 3 back in 2007. This, of course, was a time when Lewis Hamilton hadn't even burst onto the scene and when Jensen Button was still a perennial under-achiever. Now it's 2009, and things are very different. Right now, Formula One couldn't be more popular. More » |

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising ReviewPosted on 2009/10/13 BY DARRYLMany first-person shooters (FPS) these days focus on intense action and non-stop thrills, as opposed to the more realistic simulation of war. Classifying itself as a tactical military game, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising looks to distance itself from the typical FPS as it attempts to realistically portray what modern infantry combat is really like in a game that's definitely not for the faint of heart. Jumpgate: Evolution Expanding On The MMO GenrePosted on 2009/06/07 BY ALEXNet Devil and Codemasters are teaming up for a new MMO set in space with Jumpgate: Evolution. The MMO genre is tough enough to break into, especially as there is already a popular game with a similar premise, so how does Jumpgate plan to be different? Instead of using timer-based abilities, the combat system is all twitch-based. This makes battles more focused on player skill rather than gear, although gear, in the form of ships and weaponry, will still play a part in player's power and abilities. Players can switch between roles by changing their ship type, for example switching from a quick, powerful fighter to a slower, tougher mining vessel. More » |
