Phase 3 of the closed beta is about to come conclusion some time tomorrow. "The FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Phase 3 will end on August 25, then move to the Open Beta Test in early September. Get ready!" The full game will retail on September 30. For those that preorder the collector's edition, they'll be able to access the game 8 days earlier on September 22. More » |

Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be releasing as soon as September on the PC. The official date is currently set at the 30th of September, but a Collector's Edition of the game will be sold on the 22nd, which will allow players early access to the game. |

Coming from a background of liking Final Fantasy and caring very little about MMOs, Final Fantasy XI served as a great window into a new world. While most Final Fantasy fans knew the game wasn't going to be of the typical ilk, there was still the urge to check it out and give it a chance. Those that did give it a chance typically fell in love with it, despite its very unforgiving nature. However, despite Square Enix's best attempts to keep players interested with numerous expansion packs, the game's attraction started to wane. |
