Top Ten RPGs Of This Generation... So Far

Sat, Aug 28th, 2010, 12:46 pm (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS

This console generation has seen a remarkable shift in what it means to be a role-playing game. Elements that have traditionally been exclusive to RPGs - such as leveling/upgrading characters and equipment, branching, non-linear plots, and collectible items - have begun to be incorporated in numerous other genres, blurring the lines between them. However, the core RPG genre remains intact, featuring a wide variety of the best Western and Eastern game designers have to offer. This is Gaming Union's top ten RPGs of this console generation (roughly 2005 to present), in alphabetical order.

Demon's Souls Sold Out In UK

Thu, Aug 5th, 2010, 12:39 am (EST) BY ADAM MA

Most definitely one of the best games of this generation, Demon's Souls has been fortunate enough to see release in the UK this past July. It's also apparently been fortunate enough to be a smash hit, 'selling out' all copies of the Black Phantom Edition. Hard to believe that is even possible, but apparently so. Demon's Souls: Black Phantom Edition Review

Thu, Jul 1st, 2010, 8:59 pm (EST) BY DARRYL

Demon's Souls has been something of an anomaly. When the game was released over a year ago in Japan, expectations were quite low. It was a brand new game featuring gameplay from a niche genre; it also had very unforgiving gameplay. However, it became something of a cult hit and gamers from the West ended up importing an English version of the game from Asia - a lot of effort for just one game. Atlus USA saw the potential and brought it to North America, but it's taken this long to reach European shores courtesy of Namco Bandai. So, what's all the fuss about? More »

3D Dot Game Heroes Review

Mon, Apr 19th, 2010, 3:46 pm (EST) BY ADAM MA

There comes a point in every franchise's life when it's time to move on. Bigger graphics, bolder storytelling and a main character becomes completely re-imagined. A slowdown in tourism has finally forced the King's hand however, and so begins Atlus' 3D Dot Game Heroes with Dotnia's classic landscape redesigned to fit a more 3D era. More »
