The men and women at Sony are keeping a tight lid on this one however, with only the occasional trailer here, a screenshot there, and the unveiling of the box set for fans to chew on. That's exactly the way it should be. As a culture we tend to get a little obsessed with how much information we can learn before something even happens, and it's created a lot of false hopes and empty promises. 0  Halo Reach Multiplayer Demo Launches In May Fri, Feb 12th, 2010, 9:04 am (EST) BY COLIN It's official! The Halo: Reach multiplayer demo launches on the 3rd of May. The announcement was made last night at Microsoft's X10 event in San Francisco among a myriad of other goodies for the 360. According to Bungie, the game boasts a new arsenal of weapons, customization and some pretty big battles previously unseen in any Halo game so far. Reach's beta program will also be the largest ever on any console to date and is "expected to see millions of participants when it begins." Creative director Marcus Lehto adds that the developer will be taking "pretty big risks" with their final Halo game, although he wouldn't go into specifics. All this in addition to the already established online community, Forge and co-op modes. More »

0  Bungie Planning 'One Last Hoorah' For Halo 2 Tue, Feb 9th, 2010, 4:39 pm (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS Halo 2 fans disappointed by the discontinuation of Live service for the original Xbox will be happy to know that Bungie, makers of Halo, feel your pain. In a statement on their official website, the developer let players know they are "saddened" by the shut down and to "mark your calendars now - on April 14th let's all rally to go online for one last hoorah." 0  Xbox Live Service Meeting Its End For Original Xbox Games Fri, Feb 5th, 2010, 10:15 am (EST) BY KYLE WYNEN In an open letter to Xbox Live users, Xbox Live General Manager Marc Whitten has announced that the service for the original Xbox will meet its end this April 15th. This also includes original Xbox games played on an Xbox 360. Whitten explained Microsoft's choice to do so, "I want to start by saying this isn't a decision we made lightly, but after careful consideration, it is clear this will provide the greatest benefit to the Xbox LIVE community." 4  Is Halo 3: ODST Really Worth $60? Posted on 2009/09/03 BY DARRYL Originally titled Halo 3: Recon, Bungie and Microsoft have never denied that the game is essentially an expansion pack for Halo 3. However, when it was initially unveiled it was never meant to be a full-budget title, something that was changed later on. The question is, does the newly named Halo 3: ODST really warrant consumers shelling out $60? In terms of content, Halo 3: ODST has a reasonable amount. There is an original campaign, as well as Firefight mode. Players will also be granted to all of Halo 3's online multiplayer content too. 0  New Halo 3: ODST Coop Maps Revealed Posted on 2009/07/07 BY SHAWN Microsoft has finally revealed the three remaining multiplayer maps for Halo 3: ODST, which will be released this September. Like the other Halo titles, Halo 3: ODST will be a first-person shooter (FPS), but will have the players assume the role of a soldier called Rookie, alongside his compatriots, instead of the iconic Master Chief. Players will search through the ruins of New Mombasa and discover what happened to the rookie's missing teammates. The MMO genre is tough enough to break into, especially as there is already a popular game with a similar premise, so how does Jumpgate plan to be different? Instead of using timer-based abilities, the combat system is all twitch-based. This makes battles more focused on player skill rather than gear, although gear, in the form of ships and weaponry, will still play a part in player's power and abilities.
