DSi XL Comes to North America Next Month

At the Nintendo Media Summit held in San Francisco today, the company announced the official release date for the Nintendo DSi XL, as well as the price for the system. The Nintendo DSi XL is a larger version of the Nintendo DSi, which was released last year in North America and Europe. It removed the Game Boy Advance functionality but added new features like a Wii-stylized home menu and a camera which can take pictures. More »

Nintendo Wii System Update 4.2 Goes Live

Nintendo has released Wii System Update 4.2 to all Wii owners connected to the Internet, two months after their last update, Wii System Update 4.1.

Unlike the previous update, which was made to fix a bug in Wii Sports Resort and paved the way for the recent updates for the Nintendo and Internet Channels, 4.2 is aimed at the homebrew/hacking crowd, since it removes almost all of the recent hacks that had been released in the past few months. Wii Internet Channel is Now Free

Nintendo has just announced that they are sending out an update to the Wii's Internet Channel, which is powered by Opera's Opera browser. This update updates the Flash Player used in previous versions to Adobe Flash Lite 3.1, which seems to have allowed much improved viewing of Flash videos on the console (the previous versions had issues with certain sites and those that did work had caching issues after a set period of time).
