In Japan, aside from Monster Hunter, Square Enix titles adorn the top of the sales charts and it looks like this is a trend they want to continue. 3  Amaterasu And Thor Join Marvel VS Capcom 3 Roster Thu, Jul 22nd, 2010, 12:10 pm (EST) BY COLIN Capcom's ever growing roster for Marvel VS Capcom 3 just keeps growiwng. Yesterday, Doctor Doom, Super Skrull, Trish and Chun Li joined the action and today with a new pair duking it out. It's quitel literally the battle of the gods...or goddess. The two new characters announced are Marvel's Thor and Capcom's - or should I say Clover's - Amaterasu from Okami. It'll be interesting to see the move set for Ammy, makes one wonder if players will be able to pause mid-game to use the celestial brush. More »

7  Sony Must Learn From The iPhone, DS With PSP2 Sun, Apr 4th, 2010, 8:44 pm (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS On March 24th 2010 the PSP celebrated its fifth birthday, and to mark the occasion we decided to look ahead to the next generation of PSP and outline what direction the handheld should take. The current PSP suffers from a lack of identity; much of its functionality is underused because of poor marketing and an unintuitive design. It has been overshadowed and out performed by innovations on the Nintendo DS, and has come under increasing pressure from new competitors - namely Apple's iPhone. The new PSP must learn from past mistakes and take notes from the competition if Sony wants to stay relevant in handheld gaming. That being said, since launching in 2005, the PSP has had its share of success: it has sold over 60 million units worldwide, plays over 500 retail titles, 20,000 movies and much more. In Japan, the PSP has been a phenomenal success consistently reaching the top of the hardware charts thanks to killer software such as Monster Hunter. Other notable titles include God of War: Chains of Olympus, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo, Gran Turismo and Resistance: Retribution. However, these triumphs have not hidden flat North American sales, rampant piracy and a lack of focus. What follows is a list of features that should be included in the PSP 2, in no particular order. 2  Capcom Announces Monster Hunter 3 Portable Tue, Mar 16th, 2010, 9:29 am (EST) BY SHAWN Monster Hunter fans rejoice, because Capcom has just announced that they are working on the next PSP Monster Hunter, and it will be coming to Japan, North America, and Europe later this year. Monster Hunter has become a smashing success in Japan, where over 40 million copies total in the franchise have been shipped, including the North American and European versions of the games. While not quite as popular in North America and Europe, the franchise has done reasonably well, with the latest console entry, Monster Hunter 3, coming to both regions this Spring. More »

1  Monster Hunter Tri Looking To Expand The Franchise Sun, Feb 7th, 2010, 10:32 am (EST) BY DARRYL Monster Hunter Tri is the latest iteration of a franchise that is growing all the time. It initially started off on the PlayStation 2, then quickly found a new home on the PlayStation Portable and has more recently gone to the PC in the form of Monster Hunter Frontier. However, Monster Hunter Tri makes the first time that the franchise will appear on a Nintendo platform and at a recent Monster Hunter event, Gaming Union got a chance to try out the game, and listen to a presentation by Monster Hunter producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto.
