What Sony Could Offer In A Premium PSN Service

There's been a bit of talk over the alleged leaked Premium Playstation Network features, and how much anyone would actually want to pay for those services. Some people are interested in possibly getting free games, PS1 Classics, and discounts to all content. Others would prefer the beta access, and supposed user-to-user challenges that allow a bit more customization. But in the end these features are just icing on a cake, and have little to do with what being online with a console is all about.

Unlike Xbox owners most people feel that since Playstation 3 already offers free online services there's no reason for them to be charged for. Copying the things Xbox Live already does then offering a slew of useless additions won't help. If Sony really wants to start winning the console wars, then whoever is in charge of this Premium service outline need only look to a few simple things: More »

Interview With Antic Entertainment On Junk Battles

Last month Gaming Union reviewed a browser based, free-to-play game call Junk Battles. Little do most gamers know that one of the key developers behind the title is Fredrik Liliegren, Co-Founder and former CEO of DICE, the now EA-owned studio that brought the Battlefield series to the masses. Liliegren now heads Antic Entertainment as the company's CEO, spearheading Junk Battles' on-going development with Technical Director Mark Mikulec, and Creative Director Jeff Evans, who not to mention both worked on Dark Sector and Bioshock.

Gaming Union sat down with Liliegren, Mikulec, and Evans to talk about Junk Battles, why they're working on browser based games, and where they see themselves in the future. More »

Dark Void Downloadable Content Coming Next Week

Capcom has announced, through a press release, that Dark Void downloadable content (DLC) will be hitting PSN and Xbox Live next week. The DLC is being described by the company as an "arcade-esque experience" which will have players fighting "through hoards of enemies on the ground and in the air... the goal being to survive to Round 10." Seems Capcom, like many other developers, have taken a page from Gears of War. More »

Sony has detailed what comes with the PlayStation 3's next firmware update, 3.15, specifically highlighting compatibility with PlayStation "minis", and transferring content between two PlayStation 3s. PlayStation minis, as a bit of a refresher, are bite-sized downloadable games that launched on the PlayStation Network alongside the PSP Go. Sega Announces Bayonetta Demo Date for PSN and Xbox Live

Sega of America and Sega Europe have announced that Bayonetta for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will have a demo on PSN and Xbox Live on December 3rd. Gary Knight, European Marketing Director of SEGA Europe, spoke about Bayonetta's hype,

Developer Platinum Games has delivered a true masterpiece. The recent perfect review scores in such highly respected magazines as Weekly Famitsu and EDGE show the sheer quality of this title. We firmly believe that BAYONETTA will go on to become one of the all-time benchmarks in action gaming.

The perfect scores Knight notes are in fact a 10/10 from Edge magazine in the UK, and a 40/40 from Famitsu magazine in Japan. Both publications have given less than 13 perfect scores in their respective histories. More »

Sony Giving Away Free Digital Comic On PSP

The PlayStation Network comic service, "Digital Comics", is launching in December in the United States, but for those anticipating the service, or at least curious about it, Sony is giving away a free digital comic right now.

The service isn't live on the PlayStation Store yet as mentioned, but the PSP has been updated with a Digital Comics Reader application. All PSP owners have to do to get the free digital comic issue is use the redeem code 724K-A4BG-JLD7 in the PlayStation Store on their PSPs. Once entered they'll have a free issue of Star Trek: Year Four - The Enterprise Experiment. More »
