Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Demo Impressions

Mon, Aug 30th, 2010, 8:33 pm (EST) BY COLIN

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm was one of the more anticipated exclusives for the PlayStation 3 early on this generation, at least by the fanbase. Naruto itself is an incredibly popular series amongst anime and manga veterans. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is the next in the series for current generation platforms, both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and it promises to offer far more than what the first did, complete with fluid animation, fast-paced combat and much bigger fights.

Based on the Shippuden arc, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 looks to take players through the journey of a Hidden Leaf Ninja called Naruto as he returns to his village after three years of training. The game plays through the majority of the Shippuden arc, all the way through to Naruto's fight with Paine. If you are not familiar with this setting, that's a spoiler right there - albeit, not a very big one. More »

Top Ten RPGs Of This Generation... So Far

Sat, Aug 28th, 2010, 12:46 pm (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS

This console generation has seen a remarkable shift in what it means to be a role-playing game. Elements that have traditionally been exclusive to RPGs - such as leveling/upgrading characters and equipment, branching, non-linear plots, and collectible items - have begun to be incorporated in numerous other genres, blurring the lines between them. However, the core RPG genre remains intact, featuring a wide variety of the best Western and Eastern game designers have to offer. This is Gaming Union's top ten RPGs of this console generation (roughly 2005 to present), in alphabetical order.

Namco: Time Crisis PS3 Exclusive Because Of Kinect

Tue, Aug 24th, 2010, 5:57 pm (EST) BY DARRYL

There have been many debates about the merits of both PlayStation Move and Microsoft Kinect ever since they were both unveiled. And when it came to the Time Crisis franchise, Namco weighed up those merits and decided that they couldn't work with Kinect.

"One of the reasons [for it being PlayStation 3 exclusive] was it's easier to play this type of game with an accessory than it is with Kinect." said Norihiro Nishimura the producer on Time Crisis: Razing Storm when we caught up with him at GamesCom 2010. More »

GamesCom: Time Crisis Razing Storm Hands-On

Mon, Aug 23rd, 2010, 8:14 am (EST) BY JAMIE FELTHAM

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect when I sat down to play Time Crisis Razing Storm, the latest entry in the franchise that also supports PlayStation Move. I haven't been too much of a fan of the light-gun genre ever since the Wii took away the appeal of a Guncon controller and replaced it with the Wii Zapper. You couldn't actually aim without a reticule on screen and that basically made it like playing with a mouse instead of an actual gun. More »

Valve: PS3 Is Incredibly Important To Us

Sat, Aug 21st, 2010, 5:27 pm (EST) BY COLIN

Valve, makers of the upcoming Portal 2 and a plethora of other popular games, have been known for making rather nasty remarks about Sony and their little baby, the PlayStation 3. In an interesting turn of events, Valve Software is now saying the the PlayStation 3 is "incredibly important" to the company.

Speaking with CVG, Project Manager Erik Johnson discussed their current stand on the platform, saying that they have mistreated PS3 users in times past with The Orange Box and its horrible port that was plagued with bugs and shoddy frame rates. More »

Fri, Aug 20th, 2010, 2:07 pm (EST) BY COLIN

It's a well known tradition in the Metal Gear Solid franchise that players can opt to play through the entire saga without staining their conscience, aka kill a fellow human. From tranquilizer guns to rubber rounds to stun knives and rods and CQC, the Metal Gear games have given players every non-lethal tool possible in order to finish the game with zero kills. More »

The Killzone maker decided to branch off into additional projects in the hopes of broadening the "level of scope and ambition" at their studio. Few details were given on the direction of the mysterious IP, other than it will be in Hulst's words, "any game we want to make." More »
