How Voice Acting Has Changed The Video Games Industry

Sat, Mar 13th, 2010, 3:58 pm (EST) BY FOZZIE

Voice acting, as defined by Wikipedia, is the act of "providing one's voice to an animated character." Though its origin is unknown it's been safely lodged in the acting world for quite some time now. Disney, as many of you are well aware, has been well known for its animated movies and, more impressively, as a voice acting pioneer. Snow White (1937) was the company's first full-length animated feature film made and Adriana Caselotti voiced the movie's title character. More »

Mon, Mar 8th, 2010, 7:10 pm (EST) BY DARRYL

While many might not realise it, Sonic has been swapping his sneakers out for a quick racing car for quite some time now, as he initially appeared in his own kart racing game, called Sonic Drift, back in 1994. Since then, there have been plenty of other titles, like Sonic R and the more recently ill-fated, Sonic Riders, so Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing appears at a time when things can only really go upwards, and go upwards they certainly do. Tue, Feb 23rd, 2010, 1:43 pm (EST) BY DARRYL

In 1979, the film 'Alien' was released to the public. It told the story of a seven man crew travelling home to Earth who received a foreign radio signal from an uninhabited planet. During investigation of the planet a crew member was taken host to one of the greatest movie monsters we know today, the Alien. Eight years later, 1987 saw the screening of 'Predator' and with it a new creature was introduced to terrify viewers. The film showed a small band of mercenaries in a time of war being picked off by the alien known only as the Predator. This alien is only focused on the hunt, finding new, tougher opponents to kill and add to its trophy collection. Ever since both films were released, many have speculated which is better and thus 'Aliens vs Predator' was born. More »

Sega Push Alpha Protocol Back To Summer 2010

Sat, Feb 6th, 2010, 12:41 pm (EST) BY DARRYL

Alpha Protocol was originally planned to be released in October 2009, but as the release date drew ever closer, Sega decided to postpone the launch of the game and gave it a new release window of Spring 2010. Since then nothing has really been heard of the title, but Obsidian, the developer, have been hard at work making changes to the title.

The game's lighting has been considerably tweaked and there have also been a few usability changes applied to make the experience feel more natural. However, the official word from Sega (via Matthew Hickman) is that they really "wanted to polish the game up, make it everything Obsidian planned it to be, and give the consumer a very polished game."
