2  Tekken X Street Fighter Is Confirmed Sat, Jul 24th, 2010, 5:08 pm (EST) BY COLIN As it turns out, right after the announcement and playable demo of Street Fighter X Tekken at Capcom's Comic-Con Panel, Namco's Katsuhiro Harada followed suit with his own confirmation that Tekken X Street Fighter is indeed in development. Fighting game fans now have not only one game but two to look forward to. While Street Fighter X Tekken will run on the Street Fighter IV engine, Namco's take on the crossover is rumoured to be built in the style of Tekken games where fights are held in a 3D arena. Capcom's Ono does say that the games won't see release any time soon and that Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will have to satiate fans for the time being. More »

2  Street Fighter X Tekken Announced Sat, Jul 24th, 2010, 4:15 pm (EST) BY COLIN Big news for fighting game fans all over as the rumours look to be very true indeed. Capcom's announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that Street Fighter X Tekken is indeed in the works. Not to mention that it looks to play in that 2.5D plane, à la, Street Fighter IV. 2  Capcom Announces New Characters For Marvel VS Capcom 3 Wed, Jul 21st, 2010, 5:30 pm (EST) BY COLIN Capcom announced several new characters for Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and the recent batch of screenshots released confirm it. The new challengers are Doctor Doom and Super Skrull, villains from Fantastic Four. Skrull's skills should prove to be interesting as he has all the powers of the Fantastic Four. As for Capcom's side, Chun Li from Street Fighter and Devil May Cry's Trish have joined the roster as well. More »

0  E3 2010: Mortal Kombat Preview Fri, Jul 2nd, 2010, 4:06 pm (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS Mortal Kombat is one of those classic franchises that manage to conjure up feelings of nostalgia in people who wouldn't normally consider themselves "hardcore" gamers. With such a broad appeal, it comes as no surprise that the reveal of a new Mortal Kombat installment makes people take notice. Recently, Warner Bros. acquired the series from Midway and announced its ninth iteration, simply titled Mortal Kombat. The game boosts gorgeous visuals, numerous fatalities, and a level of gore that shocks and amazes at the same time. The developers over at NetherRealm Studios have said Street Fighter IV's success convinced them they were on the right track using a classic 2D plan with an improved visual presentation. The 2D plan and classic gameplay gives the modern Mortal Kombat a throwback feel, comparable to Mortal Kombat II. The improved visuals really can't be overstated - it looks absolutely beautiful, in a strange, gruesome way. Everything in Mortal Kombat's small, contained environments looks crisp and runs smoothly. 0  April NPDs: Sam Fisher Walks Into The Top Spot Fri, May 14th, 2010, 10:44 am (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS The NPD Group have released the overall sales numbers for the month of April 2010, and the results don't inspire much confidence, unless you happen to be Sam Fisher. The industry experienced a 26 percent decline in revenue compared with this time last year. One exception is PlayStation 3, Sony is quick to point out their platform is only one with "growth both year over year (42.6 percent) and year to date (37.2 percent)." 1  Super Street Fighter IV Review Fri, Apr 30th, 2010, 8:51 am (EST) BY ADAM MA The Street Fighter series is usually one that's noted for its love/hate relationship with fighting fans. As there aren't too many fighting games out there, the genre has certainly seen a lot of spotlight, but tends to be criticized harshly for its flaws. Fans will praise the technical skill required to engage in tournament-level play, while those who enjoy games like Blazblue or Capcom Vs series tend to devalue the game based upon its inherently slow and deliberate gameplay. So with this in mind Capcom took a different approach to their beloved franchise, attempting to satisfy both the long-term and hardcore fans while drawing in a new audience that may have never considered the series worthwhile before. 1  Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds Officially Announced Tue, Apr 20th, 2010, 11:09 am (EST) BY DARRYL Following the leak of the trailer earlier today, Capcom have officially announced Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds. It will be releasing on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, with a PC release potentially coming if Street Fighter IV is any indication. The game will see famous characters from the Marvel franchise pitted up against some of Capcom's own, with the earlier trailer showing off Wolverine vs Ryu, Morrigan vs Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk vs Chris Redfield. 0  Why Mainstream Gaming Needs Super Street Fighter 4 Mon, Apr 19th, 2010, 8:28 pm (EST) BY ADAM MA Street Fighter is one of the best known and easily identifiable franchises in the gaming industry, let alone for fighting games. It holds history as one of the first major arcade fighting-game successes, has a main character about as identifiable as Mario or Master Chief, and boasts an absolutely terrible movie featuring Raul Julia (who was awesome). It's for all those reasons and more that Super Street Fighter 4 is a necessity for the gaming industry, let alone mainstream gamers. It seems like a pretty sensationalist statement, but how many other games actively search for ways to be more fan driven? How many try to encourage tournaments between friends or try to bridge the distance gap in game communities? Few companies have gone as far as Capcom in making a solid multiplayer experience, let alone a decent fighting game and while the Street Fighter series may not be for everyone (I personally prefer Guilty Gear) it cannot be denied that some aspects of Super Street Fighter 4 should be universal to all other fighting game titles. That's the theme to Super Street Fighter 4, the upgraded version to Capcom's console hit Street Fighter 4. Featuring new characters, new ultra attacks, and a variety of new game modes Capcom is making sure that it's last iteration of Street Fighter 4 is jam-packed with new content to keep its fans busy. Some of the options may seem a bit frivolous to anyone who isn't a big fighting game fan, but it's the small details that make the difference in this title, and will end up changing the face of the game for many casual and professional players.
