TGS 2009: Lost Planet 2 Hands-OnPosted on 2009/10/14 BY KYLE WYNENCapcom may have had one of the strongest showings at Tokyo Game Show 2009 among all the publishers that attended, but on top of this Capcom USA was also present at the show for all the Western press. The highlight of their showing was the local 4-player co-op they had set up for Lost Planet 2. Anticipating the game as we are, Gaming Union got some thorough hands-on time with the title. More » |

Assassin's Creed 2 Extensive Hands-On PreviewPosted on 2009/10/10 BY DARRYL
Assassin's Creed 2 is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2009, and after the original game sold so many, it's not difficult to see why. However, despite its hugely impressive sales and its great achievements, there were aspects of the game that weren't well received and prevented the game from being a true masterpiece. |

TGS 2009: Nier Gestalt Hands-OnPosted on 2009/10/09 BY KYLE WYNENIt's great what just a few months of development can do for a game. At E3 2009, Nier, a third-person action game, was shown by Square Enix to the press for the first time. They didn't let anyone play it as it was severely underdeveloped, with poor graphics, and gameplay that looked thrown together. Nier all around underwhelmed in that state. Enter Tokyo Game Show 2009 however, and Nier looked completely uplifted. More » |

TGS 2009: LittleBigPlanet PSP Hands-OnPosted on 2009/10/08 BY KYLE WYNENAt Sony's booth at Tokyo Game Show 2009 were a number of PSP games. So many in-fact that Sony opted for a ticket system to keep some sanity in the booth, instead of a set of individual lines. LittleBigPlanet PSP was one of the titles on display among other first and third party titles at Sony's booth, so when Gaming Union took its turn at the ticket counter, pouring over Japanese images of PSP game logos like we were at an ice cream shop choosing flavours, LittleBigPlanet PSP was one of our first choices. TGS 2009: Monster Hunter Tri Hands-OnPosted on 2009/10/07 BY DARRYLMonster Hunter has been a huge hit for Capcom ever since it first appeared in Japan all those years ago. TGS 2009: Phantasy Star Portable 2 Hands OnPosted on 2009/10/04 BY DARRYLPhantasy Star Portable 2 is the latest game from Sega's relatively new Phantasy Star Universe series. A separate entity from the normal Phantasy Star franchise, Phantasy Star Universe is presumed to take place in a different time period and location, as well as having new features. Unlike its predecessor, Phantasy Star Portable 2 is a fully-fledged title and not a port, so production has been taken a lot more seriously. More » |

TGS 2009: Valkyria Chronicles 2 Hands-OnPosted on 2009/10/02 BY DARRYLWhen Valkyria Chronicles 2 was announced, it wasn't overly surprising other than the platform. Valkyria Chronicles was a huge success critically, but it didn't do overly well in sales. It appears that Sega are going to try and address this, as Valkyria Chronicles 2 is coming out exclusively on the PlayStation Portable. More » |

TGS 2009: Jigen Kairou Hands-OnPosted on 2009/09/30 BY DARRYLJigen Kairou is a curious PSP game that was on display at this year's Tokyo Game Show, although it's doubtful it will ever see a Western release. Developed by Japan Studio, it looks and feels like an updated, but different version of Echo Chrome. More » |

TGS 2009: God Eater Hands-OnPosted on 2009/09/30 BY DARRYLAt this year's Tokyo Game Show, there was a plethora of PlayStation Portable titles on display, and one of them was a new franchise by Namco Bandai, called God Eater. Gaming Union was able to get a very short amount of hands-on time with the title, but it's very clear what served as an inspiration, even based on this short experience with the game. More » |

Hands-On With Socom: Fire Team Bravo 3Posted on 2009/09/27 BY KYLE WYNENThe Socom: Fire Team Bravo series has been one of the best franchises on the PSP. Originally developed by Zipper Interactive, the Fire Team Bravo series will continue this Fall with Socom: Fire Team Bravo 3 thanks to the development team at Slant Six Studios. Slant Six has basically taken the reigns of the Socom series while Zipper tackles M.A.G., but whether or not Fire Team Bravo 3 will continue the series' success has been a point of wonder. Gaming Union got some hands on time with the game to find out just that. More » |

New RPG on DS Brings Astounding Graphics and MorePosted on 2009/09/10 BY KYLE WYNEN
The Nintendo DS is not at all synonymous with games that have good 3D graphics. Buzzwords like Frames Per Second, Dynamic Lighting, and Draw Distance are seemingly foreign to the DS. However, one new title for the platform coming out this Fall is poised to smash that stereotype; Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is possibly the best looking game to grace the DS to-date, and better yet, it's like Bethesda's Oblivion, but in your pocket. |
