Incredibly strong, and with advanced technology, they are fearsome hunters and formidable opponents. More »

Posted on 2009/11/10 BY MARTIN

This was realised in video game form in 1999, when Rebellion Developments launched a successful PC and MAC game based on it. Now they're having another go, with the latest title being set for launch in Q1 2010 on PS3, PC and Xbox 360. More »

Split/Second Hands-On Preview

Posted on 2009/11/09 BY MARTIN

Racing games aren't synonymous with Disney Interactive Studios, but they are becoming more common place following the acquisition of Black Rock Studios in 2006. As well as purchasing new studios, there has been a real focus on creating new IPs within Disney, and the latest one, Split/Second, looks like it could be the real deal. More »

Posted on 2009/10/16 BY COLIN

The next big Metal Gear game came as a surprise to many as that it will be released on the Playstation Portable as opposed to the PS3. However, Kojima himself promises that Peace Walker will be just as big as Guns of the Patriots, if not even bigger. After all, it's being developed by the very same team. Here are our impressions of the demo. More »

TGS 2009: Lost Planet 2 Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/14 BY KYLE WYNEN

Capcom may have had one of the strongest showings at Tokyo Game Show 2009 among all the publishers that attended, but on top of this Capcom USA was also present at the show for all the Western press. The highlight of their showing was the local 4-player co-op they had set up for Lost Planet 2. Anticipating the game as we are, Gaming Union got some thorough hands-on time with the title. More »

Splinter Cell: Conviction Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/13 BY DARRYL

It's been a while since Sam Fisher has appeared on home consoles, with his last outing being Splinter Cell: Double Agent, which appeared in 2006. The fifth installment into the Splinter Cell franchise, Conviction, is now exclusive to the Xbox 360 platform, and looks to show Sam Fisher in a completely different light. More »

TGS 2009: Left 4 Dead 2 Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/10 BY DARRYL

Everyone is aware of the controversy that erupted around the Left 4 Dead franchise when the sequel was announced at this year's E3, but with the game's release just over a month away, it's time to look at what Left 4 Dead 2 brings to the table, as opposed to wondering what could have been added to the original. Assassin's Creed 2 Extensive Hands-On Preview

Posted on 2009/10/10 BY DARRYL

Assassin's Creed 2 is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2009, and after the original game sold so many, it's not difficult to see why. However, despite its hugely impressive sales and its great achievements, there were aspects of the game that weren't well received and prevented the game from being a true masterpiece.

Ubisoft Montreal are looking to rectify these points though, and during a recent Ubisoft event, Gaming Union had a chance to experience many of these changes first hand when they were able to play the game. More »

TGS 2009: Nier Gestalt Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/09 BY KYLE WYNEN

It's great what just a few months of development can do for a game. At E3 2009, Nier, a third-person action game, was shown by Square Enix to the press for the first time. They didn't let anyone play it as it was severely underdeveloped, with poor graphics, and gameplay that looked thrown together. Nier all around underwhelmed in that state. Enter Tokyo Game Show 2009 however, and Nier looked completely uplifted. More »

TGS 2009: Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/09 BY KYLE WYNEN

At Tokyo Game Show 2009 Capcom displayed a multitude of titles. From Okamiden to Monster Hunter, Capcom impressed quite a few times. Part-way through demoing Capcom's line-up, Gaming Union sat down for some hands-on time with Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Capcom's on-rails rendition of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica. TGS 2009: LittleBigPlanet PSP Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/08 BY KYLE WYNEN

At Sony's booth at Tokyo Game Show 2009 were a number of PSP games. So many in-fact that Sony opted for a ticket system to keep some sanity in the booth, instead of a set of individual lines. LittleBigPlanet PSP was one of the titles on display among other first and third party titles at Sony's booth, so when Gaming Union took its turn at the ticket counter, pouring over Japanese images of PSP game logos like we were at an ice cream shop choosing flavours, LittleBigPlanet PSP was one of our first choices. TGS 2009: Monster Hunter Tri Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/07 BY DARRYL

Monster Hunter has been a huge hit for Capcom ever since it first appeared in Japan all those years ago. Since then it's managed to sell more than 10 million copies as a franchise, and it doesn't look like this craze will stop any time soon. More »

TGS 2009: Phantasy Star Portable 2 Hands On

Posted on 2009/10/04 BY DARRYL

Phantasy Star Portable 2 is the latest game from Sega's relatively new Phantasy Star Universe series. A separate entity from the normal Phantasy Star franchise, Phantasy Star Universe is presumed to take place in a different time period and location, as well as having new features. Unlike its predecessor, Phantasy Star Portable 2 is a fully-fledged title and not a port, so production has been taken a lot more seriously. More »

TGS 2009: Valkyria Chronicles 2 Hands-On

Posted on 2009/10/02 BY DARRYL

When Valkyria Chronicles 2 was announced, it wasn't overly surprising other than the platform. Valkyria Chronicles was a huge success critically, but it didn't do overly well in sales. It appears that Sega are going to try and address this, as Valkyria Chronicles 2 is coming out exclusively on the PlayStation Portable. More »

TGS 2009: Jigen Kairou Hands-On

Posted on 2009/09/30 BY DARRYL

Jigen Kairou is a curious PSP game that was on display at this year's Tokyo Game Show, although it's doubtful it will ever see a Western release. Developed by Japan Studio, it looks and feels like an updated, but different version of Echo Chrome. More »

TGS 2009: God Eater Hands-On

Posted on 2009/09/30 BY DARRYL

At this year's Tokyo Game Show, there was a plethora of PlayStation Portable titles on display, and one of them was a new franchise by Namco Bandai, called God Eater. Gaming Union was able to get a very short amount of hands-on time with the title, but it's very clear what served as an inspiration, even based on this short experience with the game. More »

Hands-On With Socom: Fire Team Bravo 3

Posted on 2009/09/27 BY KYLE WYNEN

The Socom: Fire Team Bravo series has been one of the best franchises on the PSP. Originally developed by Zipper Interactive, the Fire Team Bravo series will continue this Fall with Socom: Fire Team Bravo 3 thanks to the development team at Slant Six Studios. Slant Six has basically taken the reigns of the Socom series while Zipper tackles M.A.G., but whether or not Fire Team Bravo 3 will continue the series' success has been a point of wonder. Gaming Union got some hands on time with the game to find out just that. More »

New RPG on DS Brings Astounding Graphics and More

Posted on 2009/09/10 BY KYLE WYNEN

The Nintendo DS is not at all synonymous with games that have good 3D graphics. Buzzwords like Frames Per Second, Dynamic Lighting, and Draw Distance are seemingly foreign to the DS. However, one new title for the platform coming out this Fall is poised to smash that stereotype; Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is possibly the best looking game to grace the DS to-date, and better yet, it's like Bethesda's Oblivion, but in your pocket.

Section 8 GamesCom 2009 Preview

Posted on 2009/09/02 BY DARRYL

There is a vast quantity of first-person shooter titles coming out between now and Christmas, and Section 8 is probably one of the first major ones to hit store shelves. Although it came out yesterday in North America, it's still over a week away from its European release and at GamesCom 2009, Gaming Union had a chance to look at the game. More »
