GamesCom: The Force Unleashed 2 Impressions

Thu, Sep 2nd, 2010, 6:23 pm (EST) BY DARRYL

The Force Unleashed was exactly what the Star War franchise needed, a game that finally let players, as the name suggested, unleash the Force in all its glory. The amount of power was just awesome, but everything is built to be surpassed, and that's exactly what LucasArts plan on doing with The Force Unleashed 2; a game which promises more bang for your buck. And boy does it look like it's going to achieve that. More »

E3 2010 Preview: Bethesda

Mon, Jun 7th, 2010, 7:57 pm (EST) BY JORDAN DOUGLAS

E3 is fast approaching! Those of us lucky enough to attend are starting to feel the weight of this beast of a games expo coming down on us, or maybe that's just me. Gaming Union's publisher preview series started off with a little Japanese company you may have heard of, Capcom. Next on the list is Bethesda Softworks, probably best known for the Elder Scrolls RPG series and more recently Fallout 3. Bethesda has revealed their lineup for the show floor, but what surprises will be in store behind closed doors, and at the major press conferences?

As mentioned above, Bethesda recently released their booth lineup for E3 which includes heavy hitters such as Fallout: New Vegas and Rage, as well as relative unknowns Brink and Hunted: The Demon's Forge. The next iteration in the Fallout series, New Vegas, is being developed by Obsidian - which is composed of some of the team behind the original Fallout games. Hopefully, New Vegas turns out better than Obsidian's last project, Alpha Protocol. Rage is also expected to have a big showing at this year's show. The hybrid shooter-racer from id Software has been through numerous changes throughout its development cycle, now slated for a 2011 release. The game is being spearheaded by John Carmack, the man behind Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein, so there's reason to be optimistic. More »

Modern Warfare 2's Mapathy Only A Temporary Fix

Fri, Mar 26th, 2010, 3:19 pm (EST) BY ADAM MA

Infinity Ward's latest campaign to bring back players features racially diverse people complaining that Modern Warfare 2 has simply become too boring for them. More vexed by the players who continue to hide 'in the airplane' than by the ones who consistently exploit, Infinity Ward suggests that part of the problem is getting too used to the maps. So thus, the Stimulus Package was made in hopes of bringing back those players whose personal lives have been publicly affected by too much online gaming. While it's easy to dismiss the upcoming DLC for its high price point and absolute lack of bug fixes (some new ones will be introduced for free on the same day as the dlc), that's not to say the Stimulus Package doesn't have a bit of thought put into it. Interview With Antic Entertainment On Junk Battles

Sat, Feb 20th, 2010, 11:12 am (EST) BY KYLE WYNEN

Last month Gaming Union reviewed a browser based, free-to-play game call Junk Battles. Little do most gamers know that one of the key developers behind the title is Fredrik Liliegren, Co-Founder and former CEO of DICE, the now EA-owned studio that brought the Battlefield series to the masses. Liliegren now heads Antic Entertainment as the company's CEO, spearheading Junk Battles' on-going development with Technical Director Mark Mikulec, and Creative Director Jeff Evans, who not to mention both worked on Dark Sector and Bioshock.

Gaming Union sat down with Liliegren, Mikulec, and Evans to talk about Junk Battles, why they're working on browser based games, and where they see themselves in the future. More »
