Activision Decisions Didn't Fuel Championship Manager Cost Model

Activision made headlines recently, due to their decision to increase the price of Modern Warfare 2 in the United Kingdom. However, Beautiful Game Studios also made headlines because of their decision to employ a "pay what you want" campaign.

Many might have thought it was a knee-jerk reaction, but when asking Roy Meredith, the General Manager of Beautiful Game Studios, about his views on Activision's move, he had the following to say,

I can't comment, that's their [Activision's] business. I don't know their business model so it's unfair to comment on it. Activision make their decisions and stick by them.

We've got a lot of people who've stuck with us for a long long time on the game, and we've got a lot of fans of the game and we wanted to reward those people for sticking with us. But also, and really importantly, we want to reach out and get new consumers to buy into the product.

It seems as though Beautiful Game Studios decision to do this campaign is much more noble and I'm sure everyone wishes them success with this new innovative venture.
