Alpha Protocol Sequel Not Happening, Poor Sales Contributed

Alpha Protocol was released only a short while ago to see mixed reviews ranging from bad to great. If you're one of the people who enjoy the game, this may come as pretty disheartening to you. In a CVG interview with Sega's US President, Mike Hayes, it was explained that Alpha Protocol will never see a sequel.

In the interview, Hayes stated, "Let's speak very commercially; the game hasn't sold what we've expected, therefore we won't be doing a sequel. The concept was brilliant, though. You know this whole thing with Metacritic where you have to be in the high 70s to mid-80s minimum [to have any success] - well, with RPGs you have got to be in the late 80s.

Although this comes as sad news to those who enjoyed Alpha Protocol, it is nice to see someone speaking very honestly about a game, even if it is a little harsh. At least there's always Dungeon Siege to look forward to from Obsidian for now.
