Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Launching With Paid DLC

Patrick Bach, Senior Producer at DICE has announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have downloadable content available from day-one of release. The content will vary from free to paid downloads.

What the content will be has not been clarified though it will most likely be weapons and gear in an in-game store. “I think people will be thrilled to see what’s in that already. On day one, you will get some really cool stuff,” Bach Said on the subject of the store. Whether this “really cool stuff” will be paid or not isn't specified.

While paid content is all well and good from a marketing perspective, releasing paid content that could clearly be in the game to begin with is a rather nasty way of milking the audience for more money. There may be quite a backlash from an announcement like this.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 releases March 2nd for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

After listening to to a developer speaking on this subject i can understand DLC on day one. It\'s not like DICE finished the game then it\'s out the day after, during the process of printing discs to delivering to local shops the developers may be busy working on this DLC. Whether this particular DLC is worth it however will be judged by consumers.
