Bayonetta For PS3 Doubles Xbox 360 Sales

Bayonetta's first day Japanese sales numbers are in, and the PS3 version has outsold the Xbox 360 version by a margin of 2-to-1. Bayonetta for the PS3 sold 93,000 copies, while the Xbox 360 version sold 45,000 copies.
Interesting numbers, considering there's three times as many PS3s in Japan as there are Xbox 360s. Furthermore Bayonetta's development took place on the Xbox 360, and was in-turn ported to the PS3. So while Bayonetta sold more on the PS3, the Xbox 360 version performed better when comparing sales to the size of each console's install base.
Sales for North America will likely vary as well as the install base of the Xbox 360 is roughly double that of the PS3, but in Europe they're about even. Whatever way it goes, Bayonetta looks to be doing quite well for itself so far.
