Call of Duty Franchise Tops $3bn In Revenue

Activision have announced that the Call of Duty franchise has managed to generate more than $3bn in revenue since the series first appeared only 6 years ago in 2003. The game has now appeared on a host of major platforms, including more recently the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii and it means that more than 55 million units have now been sold .

With rumours rife about Activision opening up a third studio to specifically work on the Call of Duty franchise - it's currently split between Infinity Ward and Treyarch - it looks like this number is only going to increase, and with Modern Warfare 2 breaking all kinds of sales records, it's going to increase quickly.

It will certainly be interesting to see if next year's installment will be a Modern affair, or another look at World War II.

GamingUnion.net are currently giving away a Nintendo Wii, along with Sky Crawlers and Ghost in the Shell on Blu-Ray. Visit the competition page to find out how you can win.
