Capcom: No Plans To Bring Monster Hunter To PS Vita

Despite the huge success Monster Hunter achieved on the PlayStation Portable in Japan, Capcom has stated that there are currently no plans to bring the franchise to the PlayStation Vita.

The news came from the Capcom forums, where Capcom's communications specialist Yuri Araujo said the company has "no plans for a PS Vita Monster Hunter at the moment."

There has been a clear switch by Capcom to support Nintendo with the Monster Hunter franchise. This first too place with Monster Hunter Tri appearing on the Nintendo Wii, but since then only Monster Hunter Portable 3rd has appeared on a non-Nintendo platform. That game also didn't release outside of Japan.

Monster Hunter was most recently seen in the form of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which released simultaneously on the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. GamingUnion.net reviewed the title, scoring it an 8 out of 10.

The next major installment, Monster Hunter 4, is due to release on the Nintendo 3DS this summer in Japan, although no official plans have been finalised for a release date.

Should Capcom decide that Monster Hunter has a future on the PS Vita, it will surely depend on the console's sales. At present, sales of Sony's new handheld system have been rather poor in every market around the world.
