Dark Souls' Western Sales Exceed 1 Million Units

Namco Bandai has announced that Dark Souls, the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls, has managed to sell over one million copies in North America and Europe.

This will be seen as a fantastic achievement for the title, with the initial game, which was released exclusively on the PlayStation 3 and was seen as a very niche affair, didn't sell anywhere near this amount in the West.

Japanese sales for Dark Souls aren't included, as the game remained a PlayStation 3 exclusive in the region, and continued to be published by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.

As a result of the success, and because of pressure from the community, Namco Bandai announced that a PC version of Dark Souls would be released. This will be dubbed "Dark Souls - Prepare to Die Edition." It's due for release in just a few months time.
