Digital Extremes Happy To Prove Sceptics Wrong

The original BioShock didn't have a multiplayer component, and fans and critics alike weren't entirely sure if multiplayer would even work in a game that thrived on its story and atmosphere.

So when multiplayer was announced for BioShock 2, there was a definite sense of unease. Digital Extremes tackled this scepticism head-on though, and focused on making the multiplayer section of the game fun, engaging and self-sufficient.

It was this mentality that has lead to the multiplayer garneering critical acclaim and as we out when speaking to Jesse Attard, the lead programmer of the multiplayer in BioShock 2, Digital Extremes couldn't be happier:

"Oh we're incredibly please [with the reception]; there are a lot of comments that are praising the multiplayer. There were a lot of sceptics about whether it would really fit into the BioShock universe and a lot of critics have been making positive remarks about the multiplayer, sayign they're quite surprised. So, it's awesome for us to hear things like that, having put so much effort into the game and knowing that we're part of a sequel to something so huge."
