Homefront Promises An Intense Experience

THQ unveiled their new FPS, Homefront, today at E3. Gaming Union scored a private look at the new game, along with some gameplay demos as well.

The one factor that instantly stood out was the action; it was always centered on the player. This means you're sure not to miss any of the action going on around you. The game uses the Andromeda engine which will ensure the player is aware of any major events taking place around them. Another thing that made the game interesting was the inclusion of the Goliath vehicle. The Goliath is an unmanned unit that the player can use as mobile cover, and it was used to attack certain enemy units. It also integrates very well into the game as the player controls the Goliath by use of a designator attached to their gun.

The only issues present were a few jerky animations at times and some frame drops when the action got hot, but considering this is the first anyone's seen of the game, that can be expected to change. Not much was said about the story either, but it was mentioned that John Milius, who wrote Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn, was heavily involved with the writing. On this premise, Homefront will likely be just as riveting, if not moreso.

Homefront will be released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
