id Bought Out By Bethesda Parent Company

ZeniMax Media, the parent company of the development studio Bethesda Softworks, known for Fallout 3 and the Elder Scrolls series, have announced today that they are purchasing id Software.
id Software is most known for the legendary Doom series. The original Doom in 1993 was widely recognized for being a pioneer in the genre for using 3D graphics, networked multiplayer, and support for player-customized content (known as WADs).
ZeniMax and id see the acquisition as a win-win, allowing id to strengthen their development teams, such as the next Doom title and Quake Live. The deal is reported to have been in the works for the last few months. The deal does not affect previously announced games being published by other publishers, such as EA's Rage or Activison's Wolfenstein.
