Jade Raymond To Lead Ubisoft Toronto
From Montreal, Ubisoft has announced the appointment of Jade Raymond as head of their new Ubisoft Toronto studio. The Toronto studio is due to open by year's end, creating some 800 jobs in the next several years.
Raymond is well known for her involvement in Assassin's Creed as the title's Producer, and is also currently the Executive Producer on Assassin's Creed II, due out later this year. Raymond was quick to express her delight at the appointment,
I’m honored to be a part of Ubisoft’s expansion into Toronto. I’m looking forward to building a strong and talented team to work on AAA games and new intellectual properties.
Whether or not Ubisoft Toronto would immediately work on large titles was previously in question, but with Raymond chosen to head the development team, that prospect now seems a lot more believable.
