KOEI Using Warriors: Legends of Troy As A Prototype

KOEI are well known for their Warriors franchise, with there being Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orichi. However, all of these games have been directly focused towards a Japanese audience and any sales in the Western world have been seen as a bonus.

Warriors: Legends of Troy is going to be completely the opposite though, and KOEI are effectively using it as a prototype to see how well they can do if a game is specifically targeted towards a Western audience.

When speaking to Gaming Union, Hiroshi Kadowaki, the Manager of the Software Development Department at KOEI Canada, stated that:

For the Warriors series, this is the first step to go into the Western market. We keep on planning to go to the global market, but this is the first step that where we specifically targeted the Western market.

Everyone has known about KOEI's desire to venture into the Western market for a while, and their merger with Tecmo only confirmed this. Warrior's is going to be a very Western focused title, but will the formula transfer over? We'll find out when the game is released in 2010.
