Under Next Month
Posted on 2009/06/27 by Shawn
Capcom has officially announced that Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will be delayed until sometime late next month.
The game was originally released in 2000 in the arcades, with a Dreamcast release in that same year. The game was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2002 and the original Xbox in 2003, but both were plagued by slowdown from a sub-par port of the Dreamcast version. Due to Capcom losing the license shortly after the PS2 and Xbox releases, prices for the games shot up dramatically.
The June 29th release date had been "unofficially" confirmed in Marvel's quarterly earnings, leading many to believe this was the official date. The news of the delay came from Capcom Unity's Twitter account, which said the following:
MvC2 is not actually coming out on June 29, sorry guys. Not sure where that rumor came from, but it's going to be closer to the end of July.
While no word was given on the exact release, Capcom should be revealing it sometime in early July if the "new" release date is to be expected.

My understanding that this release date was only a rumor and was never announced by CAPCOM. Therefore, how could it be delayed?
