Marvel vs Capcom 2 Release Date Announced

Marvel, in their Q1 earnings report, have revealed the release date window for Marvel and Capcom's hotly-anticipated re-release of Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes on Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) and PlayStation Network (PSN).

The game was originally released in 2000 in the arcades, with a Dreamcast release in that same year. The game was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2002 and the original Xbox in 2003, but both were plagued by slowdown from a sub-par port of the Dreamcast version. Due to Capcom losing the license shortly after the PS2 and XBOX releases, prices for the games shot up dramatically.

The XBLA and PSN versions of the game are being ported from the Dreamcast version without any of the glitches that plauged the PS2 and XBOX versions. Online play and widescreen support with upscaling will be included.

The game is currently scheduled for a June 29th release, although neither XBLA nor PSN update on Mondays. Most likely gamers will see the games sometime around that Wednesday, which would be July 1st, unless either company breaks their regular release cycle for the game.

Since E3 is right around the corner, expect Capcom to announce the exact release date at the event.
