Mass Effect 2 Becomes 'Best Ever January Release'

Mass Effect 2 enjoyed a pretty stellar release, and although it didn't manage to beat out New Super Mario Bros. Wii in the sales charts according to NPD, it still set a pretty impressive milestone.
It now holds the record for being the biggest selling new release in the month of January - in the region of North America. The previous record was held by NFL Street, which launched in 2004, but Mass Effect 2 managed to sell over 200,000 copies more.
With Darksiders, Army of Two: The 40th Day and Mass Effect 2 all enjoying strong launches in January, hopefully more publishers in future years won't see it as a risky launch period.
