Microsoft Admits It 'Lost Its Way' With Halo Franchise

Microsoft admits that with Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach, the company lost its way a bit, but they aim to get back on track with the next major installment, Halo 4.

"Playing as Master Chief, the 'John Wayne character of the universe', was a key part of what people loved about the franchise," said Microsoft Games Studios' Phil Spencer.

"We really spent time thinking about the story arc that we want to tell, in the world, to get back to Master Chief. Make it simple. It's not Halo-anything, it's Halo 4. It’s the beginning of a new trilogy," he continued.

Despite Halo 4 not coming out until next year, Microsoft are continuing to release Halo games consistently. This year's game will be a remake of the original Halo, which appeared on the Xbox.
