Modern Warfare 2 DLC Could Hit $100M In Sale

If the sales numbers of Modern Warfare 2 weren't high enough, lest we forget the impending downloadable content (DLC) to be bought for the title. According to Broadpoint AmTech analyst, Ben Schachter, sales of DLC map packs and other DLC could potentially account for over $100 millions in revenue. Here's exactly how Schachter put it, courtesy of IndustryGamers.com,
As with the last two CoD titles, the game itself should maintain its $60 launch price until the next iteration (due in large part to the value of its online gameplay), but ATVI will also benefit significantly from the high-margin DLC potential enabled by the packaged product's success. We estimate that ATVI will generate at least $100mil-$140mil in gross revenue from Call of Duty DLC in 2010.
Schachter and his team's math is based on sales DLC map packs Activision released for last year's Call of Duty: World at War. World at War had three DLC map pack, and with that much revenue in the balance for Activision, it's almost a certainty that we'll see three DLC map packs for Modern Warfare 2. That's the real highlight.
